Refurbished tractors questions

many of these oldies will still be doing an honest days worth of work while some newer ones have already been recycled.

How many hours do you get on those tractor's Soundguy?

Most tractors will last forever till they get some hours on them!:D

Or is it impolite/improper to ask pertinent questions that do relate to details and comments made?:p:p

Oh, did you notice that FWJ did mention something about usable life span and hours?:D:D

Since you bothered to deliberately misinterpret something I said, I'll field your attempt at driving the thread into a ditch.

MOST tractors built in recent years, especially so in a harsh service environment, do have a defined RELIABLE life expectancy. 5000 to 7000 hours and they're turning into money pits. Many smaller and many older tractors from a few decades ago seem to retain their reliability much longer. I've got a couple with over 15,000 hours on the clock. Yep.... They're ready to rebuild. But they went double the hours expected out of my newer tractors. Complicated electronics, transmissions, fuel delivery systems, ect, don't do anything to prolong the lives of newer equipment. They do run well when in good shape, but those complicated components become EXPENSIVE repair items at some point. All things equal, the oldies are much cheaper to maintain once they start to accumulate high hours. Worn out large newer tractors are just like high milage newer cars. They become difficult to sell at any price. And no one wants to dump money into them. It's far easier to sell an old tractor with high hours than with a "high milage" new one.

There's difference between "pertinant questions" and jabs and insults done as an irritant. But you already know that. We're all aware of that.

Sorry, I can't differentiate between what was thought and what was printed. A mind reader I am not!:D

FMJ I did spend a few years around stuff that was run 24/7 so I may not be quite as naive as you infer.

The word is large, usually much larger than the whole world as we envision it around us!:D

It's obvious you can't read too well either, or you'd be able to understand the VERY simple concept you've so decidedly misquoted, misinterpreted, and misunderstood. NO ONE else is having the same trouble. It's all on you, Sparky.

No one said anything about naive, except when you brought that up. Struck a nerve did we?

Apparently your vast wealth of knowledge is a might outdated. Or just not nearly as vast as you might think.

I'd suggest you should read and REread your closing sentence. I believe you're not doing so well at practicing what you preach.

Not to fear, I can read. I also ask questions too did you notice!:D

It seems that when anyone questions longevity in terms of hours rather than years some folks get right defensive.:confused:

Thank you for allowing me a vast wealth of outdated knowledge. That should fit right in with the older tractors should it not?

Seems I'm not afraid of admitting I'm behind the times. Says so every time I post!:D

Well said Bill. If we could have put a MMM on our trusty ole' 35, we would have!! :)

Did you ever own an 1155?? Once we get our 35 resto done, that is next in my sights.

What is required by you insurance?? Is it all the safety options that the new tractors have??

I'm curious as to why you couldn't put a MMM on your 35. Woods made a kit for the 8n... I bet with a tweak or two.. it fits a 35/135.

Kit had a gearbox and drivetrain that let the rear pto drive the mower. I know a guy that has an 8X with a similar setup.

In reply to the first sentence.......That should read, "Do I care"?

2nd, well, I'll agree with one thing, you are confused.

FMJ

"I love the smell of Napalm in the morning."

As a spectator, I'm amazed by the folks on this forum who are brimming with good, solid, knowledge, and their willingness to help others.

That being said, I'm allso amazed by those whose sole purpose in life seems to be to up their post count with empty, useless attempts to butt into threads, without an ounce of actual purpose to their ramblings...

The internet is a great source of free speech/verse, just that sometimes it's not as great as others.

Keep up the good work and continue helping those of us in need!

It all boils down to what you need. We all have opinions and most of them stink, including mine. I have a Ford 861 Powermaster and 28HP Jinma. I used the Jinma 150 hours last year and used the Ford 2 hours. Its a good old tractor but only does one thing better than the Jinma out of 100 task I do at my place so that leaves the Jinma to do the other 99 task. I would not miss the 861 if it left tomorrow after getting the Jinma but I hate to let it go.

It boils down to preference. I am not saying my Jinma is any better than my neighbors JD790 or my buddies Case DX29 or my dads neighbors NH TC33 but its the right match for me. This argument is just like the Ford Truck / GM Truck fight. I would rather have my third member cut off than drive another GM product, especially a truck. Others swear by GM. Another example is the R1 and R4 fight. I personally would not own a tractor with R4's unless I was just doing something like landscape work and was constantly on asphalt. To me a tractor is just not a tractor without R1's.

The OP needs to see what his daily task are then make a decision on what is best for him.

When can I come pick it up?:) If you put a bow and some ribbon on it and hum "Merry Christmas", I might cry with joy!
