I have a 2019 XR3135H and had a code that flagged the EGR was bad. It was making a buzzing noise at shut down so I could see how that would be a problem. Replaced the EGR and power washed the canister then dried it for two days over the wood burning stove. Put things back together and now the tractor wont re-gen. I tried a forced regen and the engine stumbles but wont pick up rpms. Engine temp was at normal working temp when i tried this. everything's running fine, no loss of power and no engine codes. I looked for the OPD plug at either side of steering panel and could not find one. I would like to purchase a code reader. Can just changing the EGR make the engine not regen? maybe i have not waited long enough for it to do even a manual regen? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When a dealer replaces an EGR valve, they do an EGR reset procedure with the service tool and clear the codes before doing a regen. No codes showing now after replacing the EGR valve? You probably already know this, but to successfully do a manual regen, the engine must be at operating temp, the park brake must be set with the park brake light showing on the instrument cluster, and the hand throttle must be at low idle. The top of the regen switch must be pressed for at least 3 seconds to start a regen cycle. Just replacing the EGR valve should not prevent it from doing a regen, but the EGR reset may have something to do with it. Certain active fault codes can also prevent a regen. A dealer can also do a forced regen with the service tool which is different than the manual regen that you can do. The diagnostic port is located down low near the floor behind the lower dash cowling. I've never needed a code reader, I have a copy of the fault code list so I can look it up and see what it means. Unless it has diagnostic and live data monitoring capabilities, a basic code reader isn't that useful to me. Someone posted a fault code list here a long time ago, but I don't know where to find it. I can re-post it if anyone wants it.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I am aware of operating temp, break ect. I don't own my own trailer and didnt want to borrow one in order to get it to the dealer. Theres no codes on the dash and the tractor is running and starting just fine. iven in the cold weather. I was hoping someone would tell me that it was possible that the canister is not showing that its dirty and so a regen wasn't possible. Wishful thinking. lol. I was also thinking a scan tool would also allow me to delete if there was a sleeper code. Guess we are heading to the dealer.
