Relative ride/comfort of BX-25D versus Kubota B2601

Generally speaking I found that the larger the tire the smoother the ride. I we have rougher yard and have had/or have a BX, B , L and an MX. Overall the MX is the smoothest and my BX the roughest on the exact same terrain. I mainly think it is because the MX has such larger wheels it sort of goes from high point to high point and don't "fall" into all the little groves and holes the smaller wheels do.

Frost heave can be problematic I would agree. Sod is costly, I rarely use it and prefer seed instead. Don't think you need to hire a cat to remove farm furrows. A tiller, spike tooth harrow and land plane grader scraper come to mind.
I have small gofers on occasion and just smooth the mounds over with my small land plane.

Curious if a roller run in the spring would help with your frost heave?

A roller might have some effect if there was dirt/compost above the clay (like our newer lawn). But the flat lawn clay heaves from deep below and its return after thaw is not consistent. And the clay base doesn't flatten easily. What I have been experimenting with since I got the massey . . this entire summer/fall I've constantly altered my cutting and direction movement patterns when mowing. Its much slower results than rolling but I'm hoping the winter heaving may show a more consistent recovery because thete will be no compaction memory patterns for the frost to effect.

Meanwhile . . Moles seem to be nature's way of ventilating our better lawn and ridding us of grubs . . . now I need some new methodd to rid the moles lol.
