Tractor
Kubota Grand L 5740, loaded R1's w/640 lbs cast weight, 854 loader
This stuff was HARD and was covered with grass and no rain in months.
I was pulling up big old clods of dirt!
Three things learned.

#1 A bit of Moisture is wonderful.
#2 My tractor will handle this plow perfectly.
#3 Next time, shred before plowing. It will be prettier.

The first pic is getting started
2 is a action shot, best I could do.
3 is looking west about a quarter of the way in.
4 is still looking west about half way in
5 is looking east showing how much I have left and the bend my furrow is starting to take.

Sorry about no video.

I worked hard to stay straight and I guess I did ok. It all came out ok at the far side of the field

I plowed from 10 am until 5:30 Saturday and from 9 Am til 6 Pm Sunday. subtracting the breaks and BS time it too me about 14 hours to plow this.

I'm looking for more to plow. I ran out of dirt again. :)

I will not be the one to say, you don't have your plows set 100% correct are there would be no breaks in the roll of the dirt or the grass as plowed. Looks good.

Or it could be because some of the grass was three feet tall.
Maybe. :)

Here's a few more thoughts about the plow and a couple of pic's of the plow.

I never got the left hand bottoms to come completely bright and shed properly. The rusting was such that it looked like the plow had set in the field for a few years and been covered with sand. The right hand bottoms, when I finished were pretty darn bright.
I figure with another 8 or ten acres, everything will be polished bright.

I'm going to paint the bottoms with spray graphite. It looks like a dull black paint, drys like paint and is slick. Since it's use is a lubricant, I figure the next time I plow, the plow will shed as soon as I stick it in the ground and as it wears off, the steel should still be bright underneath.

Also, I forgot to mention speed.
As the plows began to shed better, my speed picked up. I started out at about 3 to 3.2 MPH and when I finished, depending on what I was pulling through, I was running in excess of 4 MPH.
I felt most comfortable and the plow seemed to perform best at about 3.8
MPH.

"depending on what I was pulling through"
This field varied a lot from end to end. The west end for about the first 100 yards was red sandy loam and plowed great. The middle third was a chalky kinda stuff with some caliche in it and it just powdered up. The far east end was a lake bottom in the sense that water stood for awhile after a rain. It was black heavy soil and since there wasn't any moisture in it, it was extremely hard to plow and I pulled up watermelon sized clods.

Over all, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
I got to BS with a buddy, drink a few beers, forego shaving for a couple of days and work on my tan. ;)

Nice job Allen. I have the L3130 and plowed 4-5 acres with a single this year:(.

Your rows are a lot straighter than mine! How many acres did you plow?

Did the 3240 handle the double ok?

hunterridgerfarm,
My tractor did really well with the two bottoms.
If you read some of my threads/posts though, you find that I mentioned several times that I keep waiting for my tractor to grow up into a 5740. :)

According to the owner this land was, "9.7 or 9.2 acres. I cain't member fer sure"

:D
