I just had to bump this back to the top because I'm tired of reading about all the snow plowin' goin' on.

I haven't had a single call on my ad and the number has been corrected.

I have no dirt to plow.

I'm so depressed.

Hey Allen, you are welcome to come up here and plow some snow. Might be good practice! I should think your plow would turn over snow without any effort at all, though it may not put much of a shine on the moldboards!

Hang in there, things will get better. I would think with the economy, more people will be putting in big gardens this year.

Well my job this weekend (I hope) is to clear about 10ac of cedars. My allergies are going to drive me nuts....oh..well...:). Next job will be to cross fence this part off, move a 15ft tall deer stand to a better location, close off another part of the property, etc. etc. etc. Gota love it. One of the upcomming impliments I want is a 2 bottom roll-over. Also on the agenda is a subsoiler and a 8ft. disk.

Allen thats a great job with our plowing I have an old Ferguson plow dad traded one of his new brother inlaws a boom pole for and It wouldnt wotk with his 3130 Kubota's lift arm as the coulter arm was bumping the lift arm. Pops didnt want to cut it off so I traded him for it. The back wing bottom has the roll over wing missing about 8 inches. I had another part of one I was gonna cut off but its not a problem iffen I keep my speed up with my 3000 Yanmar. Then later I traded him out of a good bottomed Furguson like mine but the lift arms ar missin. Ill have to build a set. It worn and broken finned clay bad bottoms on it and dad had traded for 2 new bottoms. I wished I had a left handed bottom to gowith my right I 'd like to make a super hiller toolbar for bigger raised beds.
Cartod that plow is the reason your furrows are lumpy. Those newer plows like that leave a hard strip for some reason as they are more centered even a 2 bottom version will leave a hard strip between the furrows. Ive used one a bunch when I just had the tiller and middle buster for my tractor. Dad sold all the good plows with the big tractor years ago and had been using the 3000 and middled buster and tiller set up. They to find an old Dearborn,Furgeson,New Idea, JD or other older brand plow made by folks that studied their plowing. Alot of these newer manufacturers that make smaller plows dont take the time to offset the plows and they are often built form tubing or barstock. But most smaller tractor owners use a tiller after the plower to. I sold my one bottom that i had taken in on trade that was exactly like yours itwas left about 10 inches beteen the furrows of un plowed land. To find a good little breaker look in a local trader paper or in take a drive arund a smaller farm and they may have a fence row find.

We have about 80 acres of light sandy soil where this would work great. But how would this work in heavier black soil? I've cleared about 40 acres and planned to disc it up early spring to plant some jigs or alicia there.

I have a JD 5103 2wd, roughly 50hp and I plan to roll a 14' disc over the top but can't get near as deep as you did. I wonder how many hp per plow it would take?

Your job looked very good, very straight.

You're only about 11 car hours away, how long would it take to drive your tractor down here? ;)

Road my tractor down there?
I can go about 14 miles per hour. It would take a while. :D

I did some plowing this weekend. An acre at the most. My rows are not as nice and neat as yours, but then my terrain isn't as nice and neat as yours either. Hills, bumps, holes, etc. Just got me cheap 2 bottom plow repaired and it works great now.

I have a Kubota 4400. If I've got the plow digging down 4-6 inches, 4wd is a must. I also plow with the loader on. I'm no geometry whiz but it seems to me that 1) the plow pulls the rear down and the front up 2) The fronts help pull 3) fronts pull better when they are in contact with the gound 4) loader is weight out over the front which helps keep the fronts planted.

Anyway, I'm jealous. Would love to have some wide open space to plow like yours.

I also had the same issue in one field. It was well turned but the grass was tall and stuck out of the rolled over sod making it look like I was off by a bit. But I wasn't.

As mentioned, coulters would have been a big help. Several times while plowing deep a big hunk of sod would clog the rear bottom.

Coulters seem a must to me. I don't think my grand-dad, uncles, cousins(all farmers) ever plowed without.

One trick I learned: If you are first time plowing rough ground that had had scrub trees or heavy brush in it, then the colter rides up and over a lot of roots.

Solution- a bar, like a sub-soiler but can be straight and sharpened, in place of the coulter will slice right thru them. Slant it forward and a little deeper than the plow.

Goodluck
