Looks mighty good to me! Nice and straight, most of the surface "trash" covered, and fairly consistant looking job.

OMG :eek: you're plowing with R4's, how in the world did you do that!:D My neighbor and I have R4s on our tractors, and he plows with his....we laugh alot about the R1 and R4 debates we read about. In fact there needs to be a laughing face to select to the right.:D;) Looks great!:)

"OMG you're plowing with R4's,"

Yeah, and a front end loader too! :D

Made it nice when I had to stop and pick up a piece of junk out of the field.
I just chunked it into the bucket and carried it out.

At one time the moldboard and shares were covered with grease for the sitting period.:D

One an open tractor with a strong spring wind and temperatures just above the freezing mark the "Ploughing Experience" will turn into a different type of Experience after several weeks of 10 or 12 hour days.:D

I ain't gonna plow when it's too cold...
or too hot.
I finally have that freedom.
of course, I've never farmed for a living so I guess I've always had that freedom.

I guess when my tractor grows up into a 5740 it will grow a cab too.
So then the weather becomes moot.
:D

Looks good! You plowing in 4WD or two? If you're in 4WD, try 2WD and let us know how it changes...it should still pull the plow, but with the FEL you will lose some "traction weight" on the rear tires. Good luck! BobG in VA

I That sure makes my job look insignificant.:D

Actually you're not doing too bad,
From what I can see in the picture, you're plowing sod on hard mostly clay soil. Which hard to do neatly under most circumstances, especially a single bottom.
What would help is if you can find a coulter for that plow it will help cut the sod to make a cleaner furrow. Also a moldboard extension that goes on the end of the moldboard and helps the soil finish rolling over , and doesn't let it flip back. To cover the thrash better a coverboard curls the top of the slice over and dumps it under the rest of the dirt. Its mounted at the top of the shin piece and the moldboard. Google these terms or stop at an equip dealer and ask the parts guy to show you the parts.

4WD. It won't pull it in two, at least not very good. It spins. I think a two wheel drive tractor, exactly like mine would pull it better than mine does in two wheel drive but with 4wd, there is no comparison.
Just for grins, out in the middle of the field, I buried the plow to see just how deep I could go without it stopping the tractor. Surprisingly, it was about 8 inches more. As long as I kept the plow at the correct depth, I never spun a tire.
As far as traction weigh being pulled off the rear tires by the FEL, this plow pulls down so hard on the rear of the tractor, I doubt that the FEL hurts any. As a matter of fact, the reason I left it on was to help weight the fronts.

Some day I plan to rig weights to replace the weight of the FEL so I can take it off. It's simply easier to maneuver in these fenced in fields without it.
And, in all honesty, I haven't tried to pull the plow with the loader remove yet. It might still do just fine.
