Remote control start

   / Remote control start #21
All a remote start does is duplicate the ignition switch as it goes through the starting process.

With the wiring schematic they are easy.

With a tractor you'd need to bypass the seat safety switch and with clutch that would need bypassing also. And brake. And maybe the pto engage? Easy. The bypasses are built into the remote starters. They use relays to make this happen and are quite safe and reliable if installed correctly. For example with the brake switch bypass it would be hooked up so that if the brake lights turn off (meaning that brake was unlocked) the remote starter would immediately shut the engine down if you weren't in the seat and turned on the key like normal. This stops a runaway tractor situation or if your kid gets in and tries to drive off. (or thief outside the feed store when you're inside - quite handy in cold weather because you take the key with you and it stays running for 12 mins)

They have built in safeties for clutch cars so probably adaptable to tractor.

my kubota has the same-ish hook, but I don't think it depresses it far enough for the clutch switch.
Obviously, it'd be easy enough to over ride...but that isn't necessarily the best idea either.
I'm not sure how "they" do it in manual trans diesel trucks.....
I could find no mention of diesel on Viper's webpage...
In manuals tractors the gearshift has a neutral safety switch, correct? I know my 1950 8n does. It would use that as a safety so that it only starts in neutral. (would work the same with hydro) The clutch depress switch is also temporarily bypassed during starting as well as seat switch. And brake.

Geez these tractors are hard to start.
