kubota l3800-m9000-jd4430
the rear remotes on my l3800 Kubota are 3/8 .some are telling me they are too small-they need to be 1/2.my other tractors have 1/2 couplers.will the 3/8 be large enough to run a grapple lid? thanks for your replies

Kubota put 3/8" hose & connectors on our 3200/3800s. The pumps on our tractors push less flow than the capacity of those fittings, so no need to go bigger. The limit is pump flow, not the hoses or connectors no matter what implement you are talking about. A grapple won't take any more flow or pressure than curling your bucket really.

I put 1/2" against connectors on my new valves as they are standard & will be more likely to match random implements I might borrow. Not for flow reasons.

Most implements are 1/2 Pioneer Ag fittings.

What size is your Qc? What size is your hose?

The smallest hose/connector in the system will be the bottleneck (which will cause oil heating & slow performance). Putting bigger hose/fittings on will just mean less back pressure & oil heating. As the OEM Kubota parts are the bottleneck when connecting up your new stuff with 1/2" fittings you can be reasonably sure that the weakest point is plenty strong enough for propper operation.

Most people try to reduce the flow to operate a grapple, and some even use 1/4 in hose, or just reduce the engine rpm, which will reduce pump flow.

Absolutely. Grapples have very small cylinders and require very little flow. A lot of guys (including myself) use 1/4" QD's and hose for the grapples, the slight restriction can actually help slow it down so it more controllable. Save your money...
