removal of tree blow down

There was a leaner here... it had not yet fallen.

Both property owners had the same insurance company and the company had a tree crew with crane onsite the next day...

One of the owners said the adjuster said we are going to pay for it one way or another and removing the tree the is the least expensive option...

Maybe both having the same company made the difference?

finally something to report, i did receive a check from the insurance company and
the contractor says he will be there monday to remove the tree from the roof.

after this is all cleaned up, my insurance company will request that i get a stand alone
policy on the property, as will not continue coverage extended off of my homeowners policy,
my agent says it will probably be similar in costs but overall a better option.

Would be nice to see a few pictures of how they do it.

Good ending to what could have been a hairy situation. As Mousefield above me suggested, it would be interesting to see how they do it.

My home owners with Farm Bureau has a "Country Squire" rider. I recently requested a different agent and learned they were charging me a site charge. She says it is unnecessary in my case since my parcels are adjoining. So my point is they WILL cover a separate site on an existing policy. In my case the site fee is just a few bucks but it all adds up.

Not the first time I've heard about someone filing a claim and being told 'we're cancelling or changing your coverage or requiring you to get different coverage ...'

Pretty sure it won't be the last either.

My mother recently told me she was going to get additional insurance for the property, to cover trespassers "like the guy on the bicycle that my brother chased off." (Her land is posted.) I went a little ballistic, as Maine has a very strong law protecting landowners against lawsuits from recreational use. I suggested that she talk to her lawyer first... the insurance company is just looking for excuses to take more of her money.

the check came, i called the contractor, they were there monday and had the tree off the roof
in about 3 hrs, no further damage, everything good to go, time to start finishing up the
deck railings and get the docks in!
