Removing exhaust header type, studs

Not to start another debate, but I use ss bolts and nuts exclusively at work and never seize prevents the galling. We also use loctite242 without problems- seems to lube threads even when removing nut.

Thanks Junkman & Others.

I went out of town yesterday & my neighbor dropped turbo off at yet another neighbors...who seems to have been a machinest once in life and has some of the big toys in his shop.

He tried today to heat it up, it didn't budge. He told me he's going to try again and if it doesn't work, he'll cut them flush and then try to drill them out. Said he'd first drill a hole in them and use one of those reverse bits to try to remove it. Absent that working, he'd drill them out & tap new threads in there.

Brutus is outside laughing at me & my ineptness of fixing it... but it doesn't know I'm a persistent little creaton and WILL persevere.

Hi

I have removed studs that were flush with the block by placing a hex nut over the stud and with a stick welder weld the nut to the stud. Completely fill the nut with weld for strength. Hasn’t failed yet to remove the stud.

Charlie.
