Removing metal fence posts

/ Removing metal fence posts #11
My land used to be part of Camp Fannin, a WWII Army training base and I own rifle range number 4. They put these metal rods in the ground and anchored them with a massive amount of concrete. They were to hold the targets in place the best I can tell. They don't pull out no matter what you use, including a big dozer!!!

Now I just dig down a foot or so with a shovel and cut them off with the torch. Fill in the hole and move on. I've taken out dozens of them this way a few at a time and figure I have about 40 more to go.

Just remember, it could always be worse!!!

I just use the FEL on the bumpy side of the post, easing into it slightly with hydro peddle to keep contact ... usually the curl function to start :D

Well, I can try that at no cost. Then get some chains. The go to HF. Good ideas. Bob

2 wraps of a figure8 on the post wont slip off as easy as a single wrap.
Have seen a post pull a 50 hp 4x4 JD on its tippy toes. curl action changes the leverage, force or angle. I dont know wich one or how but keep working it and it will pull out eventualy.

For those tough to get at post and just plain tuff one's use a high lift jack and chain. If you don't have one (I'm sure most will agree) they are well worth the money if you buy a good one and you can find countless uses for one besides jacking something up
