A quick followup on this wallpaper thread...I didn't start the thread, but was coincidentally working on a room.
We ended up buying a wagner steamer at Home depot for about $50, instead of renting one for one day at $30 (that seemed like a no-brainer to me).
Anyway, paper is all stripped, and I have been meticulously scrubbing the walls trying to get every last spec of glue residue off the wall. We will be painting this when we are done.
Question is: How important is it to get every spec of glue off the wall before painting? Is the goal to get the glue off because it will somehow bleed thru the paint? or should we really just be making sure that the wall is smooth enough?
Thanks guys...probably too late for this room, but I have another 4-5 to go after this one so the recommendations will not go to waste.
Also, from a painting point of view, how many coats does one normally need for interior painting? I am guess 1-2 at most..
Lastly, would a pro paint the woodwork before the walls or the walls before the woodwork?
