Yeah, the actual cost of the shed suprised me. I was given $1100 be the insurance company to replace it after the hurricanes, but that's about 1/3 what it actually costs. As it is, I'll break even on the totalled value from the hurricane. It's better than shelling out $2000 out of my pocket. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I had thought about making it taller, and it will be about 1" taller since Robin used 1x4 footers, and I'm using 2x4 footers. However, in the plans Robin supplied with the Florida approval, it states the height of the shed. I can't deviate from that too much or the inspectors will probably notice it. Right now I'm hoping they won't notice the different sheetmetal siding and the shingle roof I plan on installing. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif The plans are somewhat generic and have both corrugated metal roofing and shingle roofing, I just need to rebuild to plan with the shingles.

Well I finished the footers today and decided I screwed up. I never measured the offset distance from the second upright from the end of the footers at the corner (since the corners are all rotted away). It turns out one was at 24" where it should have been, but the other was at 25.5". It turned out to be a simple fix, as I only had to re-do one corner, and I just cut 1.5" off the end of the 2x4 footer. Now that the building was square /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I finished the last footer and began lifting the building.

Here's the new footer lifted and set on a blocks in preperation for the permenant-temporary block columns.

Double posts in the center under the butt joints at the footer. After taking this picture I realized I had both posts supporting the same side of the butt joint, so I picked up the footers with the floor back in the pic, and re-positioned the one post to the other side of the joint.

And this is it for tractoring this weekend. Thursday last week I had 36 ebay auctions end, and I've only packed and shipped 29 of those itesm. I need to go pack up the rest so they can ship Monday.

Next week after work I'll slowly be tearing up the tongue in groove floor, and replacing any rotted floor structure, and putting down 3/4" PT plywood as a new floor. Then I drop the shed back on the floor.

What was the shed sitting on to begin with? The base should be elevated to allow moisture to go away. It looks like it was just sitting on the ground with nothing under it.
