Anyone replaced their seats with aftermarket types? I'm looking
for something to replace the one on my 1401d. Mine is a little wide and warped..it rubs on one fender whenever I sit, wearing a spot on the fender down to bare metal.
thanks!

TSC and Agri-supply have some nice ones you just have to look for the right bolt pattern most are the flip type small 4 bolt i'd just go look around unless you want a realy cheap one. Myself i got a case combine seat arm rest/air on my craftsmen lawn mower cost some major $$ but my back says it was worth it. My tractor has i think a kodiak seat from tsc..

I installed one on my YM2000 last night and was well pleased with it. Price was $ 42.95 plus shipping, total was less than $ 50.00 and I got it the next day. It is the same one for sell on e-bay but I called them direct and placed the order. I ordered it from Artec Tractor & Supply in Nauvoo, AL, phone # 205-384-9570.

It comes with (2) mounting brackets that worked perfect for my tractor.

Tony, if you are close to Newton/Hickory area, call Corriher Implements. They are right off of NC16 and NC10. Ted has a lot of stuff there. They advertise here on TBN.

thanks again, Gary. I may pay them a visit since my parents live only about 20 minutes from there!

Here is a pic of my home-made seat mount.
4-pcs 3" channel iron, 2-pcs 2x2x3/16" angle iron,
a chunk of plywood, and some machine screws.

Stacking the channel irons gave me a few extra
inches of height. I'm only 5'11", and the OEM seat
mount was killing my back AND my knees.

I have a replacement seat on my 3000 and I love it. I have a 2210B with a bowl shaped low back seat and it doesn't compare to the replacement seat. It definately makes a difference when you spend any amount of time on the tractor.

nice set-up... I'm shorter than you and I'm constantly banging my knees into the dash, etc.

Thanks, everybody fr your suggestions!

I modified my original mounts also. My leg was always hitting the steering wheel when I tried to go for the clutch. I did it though by increasing the length of the rubber mounts I made new ones with black silicone sealant and some 1 inch pvc pipe for moulds. I cut pvc pipe in 2 inch lengthsThen split it length wise. I then filled up 2/3 rds of the length of the pipe with siliconeand pushe a 7/16 ths bolt in about a half and inch and smoothed the silicone out . Then I placed it bolt end downthrough a small board with holes in it and left it until it set up for one day. Then I finished filling the other end and put bolts in it and put those bolts through the board. Oh yes I sprayed the inside of the moulds with silicone lubricant (tire shine) before puting the sealant in the moulds. and put a rubber band around the molds to hold them together. After they had set up for 4 days I removed the mold and the product came right out like I had hoped. This raised my seat 1 1/4 inches I gained another inch with washers between the other mounts on the frame. my legs dont bump any more.

thanks, rrw1238! sounds like a good idea...
and it would keep me from having to have any welding done.
How sturdy is the silicone vs. the original rubber?

Thanks to everyone for your help on the seat question! I went to pick up a bush hog from the guy I bought my tractor from
and found a seat just. It's like one I found online... Hoye Tractor
but I paid a dollar or two less since I didn't have to pay shipping. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I did have to make a little modification to the bumpers to get the right seat height, but it works great.
BTW, if anyone needs a used seat from a 1401, just drop me a line.
