My 3720 Operator's Manual specifies 200 hrs or 1 year which ever is first for initial engine/filter change. Listed below is John Deere's reply to my inquiry on this topic for 3720.
Bloomingtonmike's 3320 may be an earlier version specifying first engine/filter change at 50hrs. My 3720 was built in March 2007 and it appears the Operator's Manual was changed.
I will be changing fluid and filters anyways at 50 hrs for peace of mind.

The current version of the 3720's Operator's Manual indicates that the initial oil change should be at 200 hours or 1 year of use whichever may come first.
