It is a 1 1/4" slice vertical that does not hold air. A dealer has a. Galaxy ag star R 1 for 143 mounted. I think i am going to get a new tire and keep the old as a spare using a sidewall patch from the Patch rubber Co and a tube. Thanks for all the replies. What do you tjink of Galaxy tires?

Just as an FYI, we are having problems with our local Les Schwab. Seems in the past year they are not doing much in the way of repairs, even simple things like a nail in the tire seem to cause drama, as they are saying repairing leaves them liable. YMMV but for repairs we are heading now to a local tire dealer who seems more than happy to do patching work.

^^^ This started here in the Bay Area a few years back.

Citing liability as the reason they could only offer to sell me a new tire.

None of the shops carry tubes either.

Goodyear still does flat repair and charges $28.75 for a repairable tread puncture.

I have a local tire guy that will repair those cuts. Saw him not long ago repairing a full size tractor tire. Try asking around the ag places to see if there is somebody in your area that can help.

I just mounted a carlisle r1 by my self. I picked up a new one delv for $137. I just noticed that on both the Carlisle and my old Titan it says max psi 28. My tractor manual says 35 psi. Who is right?

I'd go by the tire specs. The tractor manufacturer may have created these specs for who knows what tire they may have been thinking about.

Sounds like an R4 spec. ... Actually 35psi is to much pressure to use in any tire for AG use. If doing loader work the fronts, if R1, should be inflated to max or more.

These numbers are out of the owners manual and the factory service manual.

I was a happy Les Scwab customer for years until two things happened at about the same time. First they got greedy, and their tires are now the highest priced in this area for a tire store, second, they don't seem to want to do any repair work other than simple tread fixes. It was easy to find other tire shops that still want repair business.
In my opinion, this liability thing is just an excuse for revenue enhancement.

I just noticed something. The new Carlisle tire is 3/4" smaller in diameter than the used Titan hi traction on the other side. When i looked up the specs they were listed within 1/10" of each other. Not sure why the tire is different than the specs but does the 3/4" matter?
