Road maintenance - Tuffline v. Grademaster v. Roadboss

Does anyone sell a grader blade that offers scarifiers (for those big potholes), serrated cutting edges (like the RoadBoss), and adjustable heights for the cutting edges? So far I haven't seen all three of these items in one unit.

Go with the Roadboss, proven performer, the City of Ames, IA uses this in thier alleyways instead of using a $200,000 maintainer, the blades will last longer than competotors too.

I might be wrong about this, but I think that you will find that the graders that have the scarifiers are lighter in weight and have the scarifiers to try and make up the difference in performance.

Just my observations, yours may vary.;)

Pretty much every one looks like the same design - only meaningful difference seems to be weight, and length of skids. I'd think longer would be better, and Mtn Views are the longest. Harder to pull of course.

He's got a couple which would be great for someone on the west coast.

Does this mean that they will not work on the east coast? :D I think that I can get mine just about anywhere in the states for the same or less cost than a Road Boss. I will even paint to match your tractor. Now of course I am pretty sure that I would be able to get it to a new home on the west coast a lot more reasonable.;)

Oh, by the way, thanks for the plug.

You know - just like everything in Australia is upside down, everything is sideways on this coast :D

I own two graders that I purchased a couple years back at a reasonable price called Dura-Grader and there is a big difference in these graders compared to other twin blade flow through graders. The two I own both are adjustable. the cutting edge assemblies can be adjusted into six different configurations. In other words I would have had to buy six of the other brand graders ( Road boss, Grade-Master) to take the place of one of these .It is my understanding that the company I bought my graders from are the inventors of these type of graders and is the only company with patented models of graders

looks interesting, thanks for sharing this.

I looked at the website, and it seems like a bunch of the options merely recreate top n tilt - is this right?

How big a tractor do you use to run it? And how much do they run?

Not to say that the Dura Grader doesn't work great, probably does. But with all the adjustments, it has to cost more and more wear points, more things to go wrong and have to mess with. One of the strong points in my opinion of the Road Boss and Grade Master and others that are basically the same is that there is nothing to go wrong or to be adjusted, you just hook them up and use them, maybe make some adjustments with the 3 point if needed.

Just my opinion, others are sure to vary. ;)

I wasn't sure what you meant ( top n tilt). were you talking about the hydraulic top hitch? I have two Dura-Graders. One is a 6' utility adjustable and the other is a 7' industrial adjustable with a Hydraulic top hitch. I bought two of them to where I could keep one around my ranch and the other I use for my business . I pull the 7' behind about a 80 hp Massey. The hydraulic top hitch allows me to apply down pressure to the unit ( using the rear end weight of my tractor). I have actually used the hydraulic top hitch to pick the rear end of my tractor off the ground, also it works real great for adjusting the way the unit performs while I'm grading without having to stop and adjust the top-link. The thing I like the most about the unit is the adjustments on the angles. I can adjust the angles to an angle position for grading my roads or straight for spreading dirt and gravel. I can even turn the rear cutting egde around backwards for back grading and getting close to slabs and tight places. I adjust the unit before The only thing that has wore on my unit in the past two years have been the skids and the cutting edges. I am not sure the exact amount I paid for them two years ago, but each unit was cheaper than road boss . Sorry my response was so long
