Roadside Jack

I believe the only time I lost something was with my tailgate down... that was my hockey bag and a small jerry can...ho I forgot my wallet on the roof of my car once ... I also will stop and check after a few miles making sure my straps are still tight.

Oh, gas cans; right now, all 3 of my 5 gallon steel gas cans are gifts from redneck Santa, as well as my 5 gallon plastic diesel can. The steel cans are dented/road rashed, but dont leak.

To be clear, most the the road side treasures come from stuff like landscaper guys, contractors, ect. I dont think I my life is have ever seen anyone strap form boards, gas cans, pool chlorine jugs, down on a trailer. It's not like the gas cans are from folks filling up an out of gas car; that would be the 1-2.5 gal. semi disposable plastic cans from the gas station.

Some of the odderer things ive found; 6 ft drill rod from a JT5 ditch witch HDD; pulling "carrots", boat anchors, plenty of hydralic fluid buckets, a single equipment trailer ramp; "hot crimp" tool for aerial power; a 16"×16"×5/8" steel plate brand new; plenty of single concrete boots; trowels: comalongs, shovels

I...errrr...may have...ahhh...lost a yellow 36" Dewalt crowbar in case anyone finds one. (My name was NOT on it, thankfully.)

Technically, I forgot setting it on my trailer fender when last used and we were in a serious hurry, so not really part of a lost load - jus' sayin'!

It was our very last trailer load on our move OUT of NJ...and I wasn't going back to look for it!!!

Only thing I've played the idiot on in 50 years of driving (as far as I know!)

Let me know if you found it!

I forgot a axe on a trailer fender once as well but it stayed there the whole way lol (lucky me)

I am also very careful when hauling, checking numerous times along the way. Not only because I don't want to lose my load, but I don't want to kill someone if I lose my load. I cannot remember ever losing anything of great importance or danger while hauling.

I recently bought a 16' tandem trailer. They had some metal welded to the front for some sort of bracket. It was a pretty substantial piece of metal, 3 feet of 3"x3" angle 1/4" thick. Well I get to my property and one of the pieces is gone. I freaked out a little bit because what if that piece of angle came off at 70 mph on the interstate? As I was driving out my road I found it. It fell off 50 feet from my gate when I went over a bump. PHEW!

As far as finding stuff on the side of the road... If it has no identifying marks and no one is around to claim it more than likely I am keeping it. Whenever I am able to get something back to its rightful owner I will do whatever it takes. But there are times where that is not feasible.
