We have a a property & the area I need to mow / grade /work etc etc maybe 20-25+deg slopes. A portion of it I have mowed with a small old kubota rideon that I fitted with "snowchains" for grip. Mowing up & down slope is OK, but obviously need to turn around....in places the inside wheels lift of the ground and it has trouble slowing when going down hill if slippery or dry grass is present, basically I feel I'm "on the edge". I'm now looking at buying a "proper" tractor with tractor tyres etc but I'm concerned about the slopes. I guess for legal reasons, no manufacturer seems to quote the COG or roll over angles for their equip. While I'm aware there are many many variables here, I'm trying to work out if it is a life risk to buy a tractor, or if I should buy a walk behind. What sort of slopes can be worked with a tractor in relative safety (with out brave pills). What do all the "hill side" farmers use, donkeys? Anyone know any www sites that have COG locations for various brands of tractor? Do the Italian Ferrari tractors do an better than a ford or similar on a slope?
Many thx in advance for any constructive input.
