Rookie 3pt question

I have an LS R4047 and am trying to use the 3 pt hitch for the first time with a landscape rake. It seems like my 3 pt arms are not lowering all the way. This is as low as they will go. I may be missing something basic...?View attachment 462445

Do you have an owners manual? If you do, use it. If you don't, get one and use it. This is important for rookies because you need to understand the controls and the limitations of your tractor before you hurt yourself, someone else, or the machine itself. Tractor manufacturers publish this info for a reason.

Thanks. I see the different holes for adjustment. It looks like everything is in the lowest position.

No.

In your second photo, Post #1, the right and left stirrup pins are in the upper position.

They usually need to be moved to the lower position when using 3-Pt. Lawn Dethatchers and often with Box Blades when pulling down mounds, sometimes with Landscape Rakes and sometimes with Rear Blades; whenever more 'drop' is needed in an implement.

YES.

Changing Top Link adjustment will alter angle of attack of rake teeth but will do nothing to lower the rake.

Think about this statement. You sure sure you want to stand by it?

Ok, I see what you mean now. I got it to work by adjusting the top link. Tomorrow I will change the stirrup pins to the low position and see how that works.

I have been trying to get a manual for it since I got it last fall. The local dealer was supposed to order one but I haven't heard from him. Maybe I should try and contact LS directly.

I did to- should have looked closer at the pics, and partially agree with Jeff on the top link -
Although it will lower the back of the rake- as Jeff said the main purpose is to change the angle

DAVE1708 in Post #3 and TripleR in Post #4 provided the solution before me.

Ok? Lol! So you stand by your statement that "changing the top link adjustment... will do nothing to lower the rake."? I just hate to see the OP misslead.
:drink:

Edit: I must be grumpy. Please forget I said anything. Always had issues with catagorical statements. No point in derailing the OPs endeavor over my hang-up. Carry on and my apologies.
