I am getting ready to put a 66" or 72" Pirannah Root grapple on my Kubota L3130. Estimating the weight around 700lbs. I will be moving tree tops, brush, stumps and some boulders.
I have the 723 loader with quick attach. What do I need to run the proper hydraulics for a double independent cylinder unit? I thought I saw a WR Long set up with a joystick that fits over my current one. Is this a fairly simple installation for a person with basic skills, or should I let the experts do it?
Thanks for any and all help.

I have the Piranha 72 inch on my Mahindra 5500FWD. I don't know about your setup but all I did was have new hoses made to reach my rear remotes which is controlled by a lever on the right hand side of the seat. It works fine. Make sure you measure with the loader in the fully raised position and have enough slack as the hoses are not cheap. George

I have the WR Long and paid for the electric solonoid remote valve. The kit came with everything I needed. Instructions were pretty clear and easy. I pulled the ball off the end of the loader control and slipped over the handle with pushbotton control of the grapple. Ran the 12v power, and done! When I pushed the button and moved the loader control up or down, I would be closing or opening the grapple. Let go of the button and the loader worked as normal.

The electric solonoid installed on the loader arm between my rigid hydraulic lines and the flexible hose off the quick disconnect.

Joe, that's a diverter setup. As opposed to an actual hydraulic solenoid valve. That WRLong setup seems to be the hot ticket.

George,
Are you happy with the quality of the Piranha? They seem to be about the best priced grapple out there. Will it accept the universal skid steer quick attach?
Thanks. bolo

Joe,
Do I have to add additional hydraulics for this or just the 12V solenoid valve? What is the most accurate way to determine the correct lenght of hose I will need? Is there a way to install this so that I can move the loader arms up and down, and open /close the grapple at the same time?
Thanks

Hi Bolo,

As Highbeam stated, I have a diverter. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif It came with the proper length hoses for my tractor setup. As for being able to lift and close the grapple at the same time, that would depend on a couple of things. One would be whether or not you have enough hydraulic flow to support two functions at the same time. The setup I have diverts flow from the loader lift hydraulics to the grapple when the button is depressed. So, the kit I purchased doesn't support both functions at the same time.

Thanks for the clarification Joe. I believe your set up would be simpler to install than the hydraulic solenoid valve. I also think it would serve my purpose just fine. Thank you.
Bolo.

Yes, I'm happy with it and it has the skid steer quick attach. It was the best priced grapple I could find and, since price was an issue, I went with it. I've just bulldozed about 15 acres and it sure is coming in handy with the clean up.

one thing also is that if you have a STACKED hyd LOADER valve then you acn usually buy additional valve sections and new bolts sections to make the loader valve run the grapple as well... this is not hard to do but will require either new long hoses or hard lines to get down the side of the loader arms to the grapple cylinders. the new stack section would go beside the other valve sections in the loader body. the new longer bolts hold em together then too...
