I will be amazed if it is an OSHA approved ROPS. Anyone can make a structure to mount there, and probably make one that is safe (I would personally trust our fabricator's work), but going through the hoops for OSHA approval and having adequate insurance to make a marketable ROPS is a whole different world.

With that said, there will be one available, hopefully in March, for most YM models. ROPS, belt, installation hardware probably around mid $700s is what we're being told.

I guess one could theoritically get by the whole OSHA approval business by adding a decal that states that it is not OSHA approved. After all, OSHA does not have any say so over what you or I do as a homeowner/private tractor owner. It is the OCCUPATION Safety & Health Administration. It only applies to equipment used on the job.

The auction makes no mention of a ROPS, only the photo's show it. Nice looking and would love to have one.

Quoted from the auction:
"Choose the BUY IT NOW option and we'll include your choice of a new 4' HOWSE Shredder/Mower.....OR...a Lienbach 7300 digger with 9" auger bit....either one complete with top link assembly! We'll also include a PTO slip-clutch (safety first....a $79 value), as well as a canopy frame with matching top ($249 value) at no charge with BUY IT NOW."

Looks like they are steering clear of calling it a ROPS.

After looking at the pictures; I don't think I would trust my life on that "OROPS" if it turned over! I am not for sure, but I would think that the 1500 shown is like my 1700. There is a flat section on top (and round on the bottom) of the axel where the fenders sit and bolt up and looks like that is where the bar is bolted to. Without some other type of support; I would think that the bar would just rotate towards the front or back if it were to get upside down. From looking at tractors that have factory installed OROPS; there is a flat section on top and bottom of the axel with heavy enough steel and bolts to keep it from rotating towards the front or back. Maybe I am way off base with my thinking, but just my 2 cents worth.

I tried to compare that 1500D with mine. It looks to me like the ROPS is supported on brackets bolted to the gear case behind the axle housings. The axle housings appear to be shorter than mine. The 3-pt hitch assembly is also different--Is this a green Yanmar painted red?

You are correct the ROPS is bolted to a bracket that is bolted to the rear housing. The green Yanmars didn't have that set up on the 3 point either. They modified it. I did the same thing to 1500 I had. It worked much better when attaching equipment than those bars. I have some Yanmar turnbuckles if anyone is interested in making the same modification.

Here is the thread that explains what I did and shows pictures:
