I just installed a ROPS I purchased from LMTC on my 1500D. It took less than 2 1/2 hours, had all the needed hardware and sure makes me feel more comfortable on this hilly N Georgia property. It was the first accessory for the tractor that my wife agreed to without at least a months worth of convincing. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Congratulations....I can't think of a single feature any better than adding one on. I would like to see LMTC's ROPS on your tractor...got any pictures??

I installed one on my 1500D a few weeks ago. It came from Hoye (same brand as from LMTC, I'm sure). It took a bit more than 2 1/2 hours. Had some minor issues with hole alignment and the lower end interfered with the 3-pt hitch. Had to grind a bit off. I was impressed with the construction. Looks plenty rugged.

Didn't have to convince the wife--she insisted on it when I told her they were available.

Yes. I emailed them. They said that they range, depending on make, around the $500 mark. They said that they will have a folding ROPS available in the USA, by May-June.

Did they indicate if they will be certified to meet OSHA 1928.52? If they aren't certified to meet OSHA, they're of limited value. I won't dispute that a non-OSHA device might save a life, but for a landscaper, etc., actually anyone who might have an employee on the tractor, they had better have an OSHA certified ROPS, or they'll go under paying the fines. Additionally, if I didn't know what standard the ROPS met, and what that standard stood for, I'd be leery of trusting my life, or my children's lives, to just any old ROPS when an OSHA certified ROPS was not much more costly.

I have emailed Hercules' head office about OSHA. I had an immediate response, saying that all their ROPS are fully tested and comply with OSHA and the international standard ISO 5700. They said it corresponds with the SAE standard. They said each ROPS they sell is clearly labelled with compliance particulars. I mentioned that their website says nothing about OSHA compliance and they said they would update it straight away.

I can't say for sure because the picture of their ROPS don't show it very well but, it doesn't appear that their ROPS are braced to keep from bending incase of a back flip.
The ROPS on the tractor they show ,doesn't look like a very good design to .
just my opinion.

My question is, why would you want to buy a ROPS from a place from overseas. We need to support the companies here, to much money going every place else now. The ones here aren't all that much higher, maybe around $100, and I'm sure better built.

You know, I think it was more just interest in another source, rather than active solicitation, especially after viewing the photos of the ROPS, I know I wouldn't have been interested in buying one of theirs........

Again I ask, why would you want to spend your money overseas, when we have dealers here that has the ROPS for your tractor?? Don't you like the people that have businesses in this country?? Don't want them to make a living??? I thought most people wanted to buy American, if the product is made here, as they live here. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I am not saying they are not, I am still uncertain...is "OSHA compliant" the same as OSHA certified? Particularly to the applicable standard here, 1928.52. If so, there should be a tag on the ROPS stating such and listing the standard. For appearance I think the one made by Custom Products in MN is more impressive.

You are quite the wordsmith Wayne. I was sitting here thinking simply that the Hercules ROPS look like crap.
