ROPS need help

( I have a B2710 w/BH and rigid ROPS. I called my local dealer and he said the only reason they came out with a foldable ROPS was so you could get your rig into a garage. Said your're good to go whether you have a rigid or foldable ROPS?!?! )

============
If you're good to go with a short ROPS then why did the original posters dealer replace his short rops with a taller one for him free of charge.

Beats me. Maybe some dealers make money selling things to people that people don't need.

If I may reply to this one,

It's clearly written in the Kubota B4672 Book that if there is less than 40 inches between the top bar of the ROPS and the oprator seat DO NOT USE THE BACKHOE.

The Rigid ROPS only gives about 32-33 inches of clearance while the foldable ROPS has about 9 inches more according to Kubota documentation.

So that is the only reason why the dealer accepted to replace the ROPS free of charge because we have laws up here in Quebec that could void the contract if the dealer sells a product that is not safe according to the manufacturer..... in other terms he had no choice.

How did the original posters dealer make money selling him something he didn't need by exchanging the fixed ROPS with a foldable one for him at no additional cost ???

Thanks, Bill, I appreciate it. I tried to find it on TBN and on Carver's website and obviously didn't know what I was doing 'cause I didn't find it. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I think that's as good an explanation as you'll find as to the reasons for the folding ROPS being required with a 3-point hitch backhoe.

My bad, I misread the post. Dealer replaced ROPS for free -ok!

However, and I'm not trying to start something here, but comments associated with the two links are NOT from Kubota.

I think you're right, but they do apply to Kubota, also. For just one example, read this page. My dealer also told me years ago that the folding ROPS is required with the 3-point backhoes.
