Mowing Rotary cutter size for B7500?

I need a rotary cutter (bush hog) for my Kubota B7500. Is this tractor capable of handling a 60 cutter or should I buy a 48 deck?

Two factors determine rotary cutter size. HP at PTO and if you'll just cut high grass on level ground or high growth with small trees.
Answer those two questions and I'm sure you'll get an answer concerning the size Rotary cutter you should buy.

48, is what I used, when I had one,and that is about all you need to have back there. I am not saying if all you cut is short grass on level ground, you could not use a 60 but if it involves hills and saplings, then 48 for sure.

I just bought a 48" Rotary cutter from Barlows for my B2320 geared 23HP not sure PTO HP but Dealer knew. Steve Barlow said that was the size for me to buy between the 48" and 60", he had both sizes for sale.
I don't know the HP of your tractor but I guess others do.

I have plenty of high grass, previously cut with a rotary cutter. BUT... I have a few places with small trees and bushes.
(Everything grows wonderfully on our farm except fruit trees, roses, vegetables...)
I consider a CountyLineｮ Rotary Cutter, 4 ft at TSC, I could get it locally (Columbus GA) for about $850.00 plus tax.

48" would be the biggest I would go on a machine that size, rotary cutters are heavy.

You should seriously look at 48 inch flail mower from Ken Sweet or a Caroni flailmower with a B rotor from Agrisupply for your type of brush cutting and maintenance.:thumbsup:

Take this for what it's worth...

When I bought my 60" Land Pride cutter back in 2001, I had a Deere 670 (19 Engine HP, 16.5 PTO HP). As far as power, the 670 is close to the B7500. Size and weight, the 670 is (estimated) 20-25 percent larger.

I was actually looking for a 48" cutter, but the salesman (Kubota/Land Pride dealer in west York PA) said they sold the 60" cutters for use with the B7500's.

The Deere 670 did better then I expected with that cutter. I expect the B7500 would too, but it'll be slow going and the B7500 would definitely need front ballast (loader, suitcase weights).

Our B7500 does ok with a 60" rotary cutter in brush, but you have to stay out of thick grass (or go VEERRRRRRRRY SLOOOOOOOOOOOOW) as it will work that engine hard enough to overheat on a warm day.
The L3830 handles it much better, but the 60" cutter doesn't cover the tire tracks.

I've had quotes of good new 48" Rotary cutters from dealer for $699 and $799. I think you need to shop around. I bought a new one for $500 that was a brand my dealer no longer sales. He only had one more left besides the one I bought..
