Rotella 5w40 synthetic, under $13/gallon- Walmart

Les, I'm betting that was not the synthetic? If it was, I want in. JT

He didn't say if it was synthetic or dino... the regular Rotella is about that price also at Walmart. I was there last evening and they didn't have any on the shelf and said that it can take up to 2 weeks to get back into stock. It comes directly from the distributor and isn't stocked in the Walmart warehouse. Told me that it comes in 6 gallons at a time...

Our Wallmart didn't have it on the shelf when I called them, but they asked how much I wanted and got it in the next day @ 12.84/gal. I got 4 gallons, but they asked me how many I wanted so it appeared any quantity would have been OK with them.

The 15W-40 is dino based oil and the 5W-40 is supposed to be hydrocracked dino that they can legally market as synthetic.

You guys are picking at me........actually I'm new at this game, and to me oil is oil. Never cared for synthetic, mainly because I don't understand all the differences. I was told I should use heavy duty 15W-40 oil in my diesel tractor, so when I heard you guys talking about Rotella, I just thought it was a good deal.

If you think that someone is picking on you now, wait a few months when everyone gets to know you and then you really have to watch out. These guys are brutal once you get to know them. Lots of inside jokes that you have to ferret out the humor in them. Watch out for that guy Bird... he is actually a vulture.... Then there is Cowboydoc..... he is actually the outlaw of the group. Heck... I will let you learn the who's who on your own...... Thanks Guys, I'm not leaving. Having too much fun, learning about tractors, implements, and all the other things associated with tractors. I thought I knew everything as I have driven tractors since I was in high school, working summers on a dairy farm. Now I'm 57 years young, and now I finally own one, and I don't know diddly. First diesel anything I have ever owned, so lots to learn.

Can't wait for it to quit raining long enough to dig in the dirt. Next time I get out to Texas, I'm going to look up the "Bird", seems to be a person I would like to know.

I'd be glad to meet you, Les. And I used the 15W-40 dino oil in my tractors, too. I used Delo 400 instead of the Rotella, but doubt that one's any better than the other. I had two close friends and neighbors who ran bigger tractors (and a lot more hours than most of us); one used Delo and the other used Rotella, my brothers always ran the Delo in their diesel trucks, and none of us ever had any oil related problems with our engines.

Thanks for the invite. I have a guy I work with, lives in Irving, and have stopped in to see him.

Here is a picture of the building I built to store the tractor in. Once materials were on site, and slab poured, put it up in 7 days. Was an interesting project.
