Which rough terrain forklift is best for multi-purpose use? I need one in the next 2 months... Any suggestions?

Define multi-purpose use, lift capacity and height needed.

New or used?

How rough is rough terrain?

Are you talking conventional design or zoom boom style, which has deffinitely become the more popular choice?

Can you give us more info? Capacity necessary? Terrain? Telehandler or straight mast?

Here is your commonly available options.

There is this style that can probably be bought pretty cheap.

There is this style which you have probably seen riding around on a delivery truck. These are definitely the most compact and weigh the least if you need to haul it.

Then there is the mighty telehandler. These lift the highest ( over 50 feet for a big one ) they weigh the most ( over 30 thousand pounds for a good sized one ) they lift the most ( and easy 5 ton for a good sized one ) they are the largest in size and cost the most. A telehandler would definitely gain you a huge amount of cool points though.

Thanks for all the info. I found a great blog on store.intellaliftparts.com that had a ton of info on this as well. I'll check out a lot of the different stuff on here too and see what I can gather.

Well you didn't answer any of the questions that were asked, so we don't know what you mean by "multi-purpose use", or what you need.

If you need to do any dirt work, there are many compact telehandlers that are designed for ground engaging implements.

This is the my multi-purpose machine.

And of course, pallet forks.

It uses skid steer attachments, so it can do most things that you need done.

What is the advantage of a compact telehandler over a full size one? Obviously they are more compact, but a full size one can lift twice as much, can lift twice as high, and are cheaper used.

You can't do dirt work with the full size ones that I know about, because it will break the boom where it goes down to the attachment.

Full size doesn't have SSQA and high flow hydraulics.

I don't need to lift twice as much or twice as high and due to the compact size, it will do more than a tractor with the same horsepower.

I manage a const equip rental company with almost 30 million in fleet at my branch, and have a lot of experience with telehandlers of all types. If you can answer any of the questions already asked it will help us guide you in the right direction. I have experience with just about every make/model out there, but need some more info before I can really offer any advice.
