This "dog bone" style is a lot better. I have one SAE and one metric:

I keep one of those in the tractor toolbox, it works well for replacing shear bolts.

Those tools should always be included anytime the conversation is about rounded off bolt heads and drain plugs.

This tool and many like it are the reason why the older generation will always advise the wife of family members to never buy tools for a birthday or Christmas gift .

Personally, I do not like getting tools as a gift. They often are bargain shelf things I would not use or something I already have.

I've been clicking on the most recent post in the thread, a couple of times per month. Each time, a hundred or so new posts ... and no news.

That's what I bought mine for too, but mine's from HF. It's also handy to make quick adjustments to my row markers on the back of my tiller.

He lives in northern Indiana. The last think he wants to do is crawl under the tractor when it's -15*, or even +15*.
