Ok time for another update, only with pics! finally got a camera, nice weather, and some time to start on the project. Took me about 5 hours to make the flanges, by hand. They were originally gonna be done CNC mill by a friend, but was too lazy to do it. Oh well always better to do it yourself anyways. There's alot more pics to come, still need to make the gauge pod for the cab an get some pics of the gauges.

There it is as it sits right now. I know the shop is a mess, thats what happens when you have too much sh**.

here you can see the oil feed line that i plumbed up using brake line. It T's off of the oil pressure sensor port. That way if something was to happen to oil pressure or turbo, i'll know about it. This was a real pain to install, not alot of room to move a wrench. I used brake line because it blends in with the engine and is more durable.

The lil turbo I picked up brand new for $220.

just a pic of the flanges i made, with studs, not bolts. not done yet.

Heres where the turbo will be mounted, well, the round-abouts area haha.

ok, not real sure which one i want to use yet. the one on the left is off a New Holland back hoe, the one on the right is off a CAT D4 dozer. the backhoe one is 2.5in dia, the D4 is 3in dia. Im thinkin the smaller one, the curved elbow matches the curved lines of the RTV more. Opinions anyone?

Intercooler and fan, got both for $20 each. Intercooler is off an Eagle Talon, perfect size! Still more pics i need to take. Putting a Snorkle on that will feed both the intake and intercooler cool fresh air. Custom gauge pod with some neat gauges. Stay tuned for more updates as i get underway!

Looking good so far, hope to see more updates soon. :)

I have turbocharged several small kubota and Yanmar diesels with excellent results. I added a turbo to a Grasshopper 721D mower over 5 years ago, taking it from 21hp stock to an estimated 30-32 hp at 5 psi boost. It has had over 1000 hours of use since at max power with no issues. I have also turbocharged a John Deere 2025 utility tractor and a Deere Gator HPX. I personally see no reliability issues if you increase the power within reason. I attached a picture of the gator with a turbo.

Any more updates? Looks like a neat project. I know my 1100 could use more power.

Its been awhile since i've been on here an gave you guys an update on the project. I dont have any pics, but I did get the project finished. However, the turbo I picked ended up being too big, it would only achieve 1.5psi of boost, no noticable difference at all. It sounded just like a Dodge ram diesel truck with no muffler. had that really cool whistle. I ran into a problem sealing the return line off the turbo. It would leak, an mixed with the air coming in from under the vehicle, covered the whole back of it with motor oil. As of right now its off and version 2 is in parts gathering stage. Hopefully this winter i'll have some time to start messing with it again. It appears to me that what really holds these machines back is the transmission, it just robs too much power. thanks for all the replies!

I agree, it appears on all RTV's that the tranny hogs up a bunch of power. I noticed this on the RTV500. The 500cc engine makes plenty of power, just seems that it's being held back by the tranny.....CVT's move the flywheel power directly to the wheels ..HST's really don't.

If these RTV's had the equivalent of the Gator's or polaris' transmissions, it'd be one **** of a machine. I think the gators tranny requires more maintenance than the hst, but i could be wrong. my only real complaint about the RTV is that there isnt much top end speed, other than that i love everything about it. Power is good, i just think every diesel motor should have a turbo, and when is having too much power a bad thing haha

Agreed....Love my 1100, but it could do better.
