Get a pitch gage and you can identify the correct threads. You can get them at your better stocked hardware stores for about $10.00.

Thanks Dozernut. Can these pitch gauges also tell me bolt size?
I have a decent HW store down the road. He's old school so he'll let me bring all kinds home and just return the ones that didn't fit. Just wanted to narrow it to one trip to the store.
I'm not used to all this metric stuff yet. I hope SAE never goes away. I have too much of it on the shelves...

You will need metric calipers for the hole size. The pitch gages come several sizes that fold up like a Swiss Army knife or feeler gages. If I have time tomorrow, I will measure the thread pitch and hole size for you.

I got my mounting bolts for the Fairlead Bracket at NAPA. Unfortunaltely, I don't remember the size. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Their metric hardware had only two "pitches": "Fine" and "Coarse". The "Fine" threaded bolts are required.

I would be tempted to get two bolts (plus flat and lock washers) in 3 or 4 sizes that look close. One size should be right. I like to have extra hardware around, anyway. Of course, this is just me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The bolts are 12mm with a 125 metric thread pitch. Use at least a grade 5 bolt.

Well, it took several stops, but at some old car parts store he had 2 laying around. Ace, NAPA, and True Value and (I forgot the 4th large chain I stopped at) only had the course thread.

The bolts are 12mm x 25mm by 1.25 pitch.
I ended up with 35mm length but they'll work.

Yeap. I'm talking about the little key ring remote. I don't like to carry it around with all my other keys. Also, others are driving the atv and I would like to keep it on board somewhere. Any ideas?

I thought of a few ideas but discarded most due to the fact the thing will bounce around.
One that seems OK but don't know where to mount is a waterproof box.
There's relative flat ones (about the size of a hardcover book) made out of either plastic or steel that are commonly used for wet environment first aid kits.
Others are more boxey and are made for holding cameras, GPS...
My daughter has something (but I have no idea of where it is) but it's a waterproof cylindrical canister about 2" diameter by 4" tall.
I would think all these options could be purchased at a place that sells sporting goods.
For these options, you could use tape/velcro/screws (whatever's necessary based on selection) and mount under the seat, under the hood or someplace out of the way.

If anyone deals with McMaster-Carr Supply, they have the bolts. Their part number is 91180A714. From where I am in PA, if I order by 6 PM online, 99% of the time I have the parts by UPS the next day! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Got the Ramsey 3000 wireless. It took about 4 hours to mount and wire. The power cables were plenty long enough. the only wires I had to extend were the three that went to the toggle switch on the dash due to the location that I used to mount the selonod. Everything worked Great! I played around and used it to pull the RTV 25' up a 15% grade. It got a little mad towards the end, but it worked fine!
