RTV900 vs a Diesel HPX

I thought the diff lock only locks the rear wheels /axel?
Are you saying it will lock the front?
I understand from the Ranger Sales rep that only the 2006 HPX and all 4x4 Polaris's are all wheel drive, w/ a touch of a button. He did say the Rhino was all wheel drive but it takes 2-3 steps to get it activated.

This is correct. The differential lock to my knowledge, only locks the rears on the Kubota, where the JD can also use a front LSD. I do not think the video was skewed here, at all. By the way I just drove a Polaris Ranger XP. It is a nice machine, I might could get myself in trouble on it!!!!

Toolnut- I have the ATV tire on my worksite model. I would definetly get it over the Heavy Duty Worksite tire. It's not too aggressive so that it still rides okay on smooth surfaces but does give good grip off-road. The only time I have lost traction is on inclines, typically steep, when there has been rain and the trail is very muddy. If your going to be using it in those type of conditions then the earlier suggestion of buying an aftermarket tire is a good one.

The Kubota RTV does not have a locking front diff just the rear.

i wouldn't mind havin a ranger 700.

Tommy, I know you are a huge fan of your Gator so I will take that as an extreme compliment of the 700XP which I have. You are correct, it is a blast to drive on the trails and it will pull like crazy. Back in the spring when I was preparing my new lawn so that I could sow some grass seed, I was kind of lazy. I didn't want to attach my 5ft wide 3 point hitch disc to the tractor. I got my chain and rigged it so that I could pull it with my Ranger. I put it in low 4WD and it pulled it like it wasn't even there. The ground was very hard so the discs were not going in much, but I had the gangs fully angled and it pulled it easily.

you sure could take that as a compliment because of all the other utv's out the i would not be caught dead riding another one other than a 700 ranger.infact if i had the money i would have one of each . a hpx for the hauling and a 700 for the playin. i know the ranger can haul some heavy loads but the suspenyion is really soft but other than that they are really some nice machines. you never know you might see me with one before it over.lol. but i don't think i'll part with my gator .i'll find a way to get both!!

Yeah gotta agree with you guys the ranger kicks butt on the trails. Aren't they unreliable though ? But hey if you got it and the gator who cares ? :D

Geez.. you guys are killing me with all the new info. That video is pretty neat, but I already knew that the HPX will out pull the RTV, at least that's what hear... on level ground.

Like I was saying, I think the thing I'm worried about most is control on the hills, and of course if I'm going to spend this much, I want something very reliable and with good resale in case I don't the use out of it I"m expecting.

Anyway...I gotta go checkout a lifted golf cart that the owner says is great on hills...:) just to add to my "confusion"...:)

Don't think that golf cart will compare when pulling on hills. Ask tommy about a parade he was in awhile back. He had a **** of a trailer he pulled in it. Or did he already post it in this thread.. hmm. Anywho I pull a swisher mower up hills with great ease that you could'nt imagine doing with a tractor.

yea i toted a trailer about 5 or 6 miles for about maybe 6 hoursi guess . it was a double axle and i had all kinda stuff and people in it . plus i use it for hauling trash to the dump .i pull it in high gear when it's got a load only on the pavement that is. now when i get offraod with the trailer full i drop it down into low. but i found it drives better if you don't lock the rear end unless you really have too.because with a load and the rearend locked it wamts to go straight sometimes (i haul some serious loads) and the front end even bounces off the ground when i take off some times. but you will get better turning power if you leave the rear end unlocked if possible.i'm going to start hauling bricks again and i'm going to post some pictures of some of the loads.she does good i'm proud of her.lol.i would like to install some air shocks in the rear.hum!!! maybe that's my next project . some air shocks in the rear. heck some in the front too.. oh i'm sending out an open invitation for a free clutch enclosure. this is how it works if you live close enough to bring your deisel hpx to me so i can use it as a model to make the first one i will give you the first for your trouble.
