Never did understand the business model for such outlandish pricing on replacement parts. More often than not those parts end up sitting on a shelf forever, then get sold for pennys on the dollar to someone buying vintage parts lots. Then eventually get sold for a fraction of their list price to a retail customer. Seems to me like it would make more sense to price the parts reasonably and actually sell some of them. The customers would be happier with their product, more likely to buy the same brand again knowing they could get reasonably priced parts. Dealer would sell more parts, factory would sell more parts etc.
It's an endless cycle, they charge huge money because the part takes up shelf and warehouse space for so long, it takes up this space for so long because they charge that huge money.
Makes you wonder if the people in charge of these products even know what they are, what they do, and who is buying them.

Pardon the hijack, but can't help myself-

In 2004, shortly after spending nearly $14k having my eighteen wheeler engine overhauled, the water pump began leaking out of the weep hole; just a drip, nothing major, but that was one of the items replaced, and would be covered by the warranty, (so I thought). Called the service manager and when I informed him of the problem, he replied that Cat was aware of this, not to worry, and sold a part that would solve the drip. Bad news= not covered by warranty; good news = only like $28.00 and EASY to install he said. They ordered it, wife picked it up, and that weekend when I got it out of her car to install it, I almost broke a rib laughing; it was a piece of SPONGE! about the diameter of a quarter, and about 3/4" thick. Instructions said to simply shove it into the weep hole of the water pump.

Well shoot. If the base is about 20" around, one like mine more than likely won't work. It is only about 12"-14" around. The other dimensions are about the same as yours. It would have saved you allot of money. They had originally told me that it would be $11 something. When I picked it up yesterday it was $8.06 with tax. Sorry, I was hoping that it would work for you.
