Hi Al.

I have a front mounted blade with a rubber cutting edge on my B3000.

I had placed it on top of a wooden pallet to store it, but I have noticed that due to the overall weight of the blade pushing down on the rubber edge, that is starting to develop some cracking on the rubber edge itself.

So I wanted to somehow store the blade with the rubber edge elevated to the weight of the blade doesn't deform the rubber and cause any damage.

Any ideas or methods suggested?

Thanks!

Yes do you have shoes on blade? if so block under the skids/shoes.

Thanks Devildog.

Yes, I do have skid shoes on the front plow.

But none on my back plow.... so I will just lift it up enough to place a couple of small wood blocks under the metal lip of the plow.

I do hope to buy some skid shoes for my rear blade as well.

I simply customise the pallet with 4x4 blocks of wood to elevate the implement that it's for.

That's a good idea. I need to pick up a few more pallets and customize them.

I wonder if that rubber was vulcanized or not. Vulcanized rubber is pretty hardy stuff. Is it thin (thickness)? You could look into getting another piece made from a heavy duty tire (like a skid steer) really thick but almost impossible to destroy.

Everyone else already gave you good tips for storage.

Edit: the guy down the road from me that makes rubber stuff for people tells me that the true vulcanized rubber will practically destroy metal blades, so if you cut a tire yourself have plenty of blades nearby.

Hi PA hayseed.

I bought the actual Kubota Rubber cutting edge. It's about one inch in thickness. I don't know if it's vulcanized rubber or not.

I now have the rubber edge on my front mount snowblower AND my 72" Land Pride Rear Blade.

The Kubota 72" rubber edge fit perfectly on the Land Pride 72" Blade. The holes matched up exactly.

I did block them up with small blocks of wood on the rear edges of implements metal portion to get any weight off of the rubber during storage.

I appreciate all of the input....
