Most of the Ford's popularity is that many people purchase on the lowest price as the lone criteria. Why do you think Walmart and China are big today?

Most of the Ford's popularity is that many people purchase on the lowest price as the lone criteria. Why do you think Walmart and China are big today?

the fact there are soooo many out there still working shows they are not just price point . they are VALUE.

in fact so much value they killed ford. you can't sell new tractors if your old ones you solde 40 ys ago are still fine!

sour grapes methinks...

For many years Ford were the second best selling tractors in the world and that was into the 90's when they had a full line up. JD was 4th or 5th. You don't sell millions of tractors for decades if you put out a bad product. The fact is the N series established Ford as reliable and useful tractors and they kept improving their tractors just like the other brands. If people purchase on price alone, how come 8N's, especially, still get a premium price?

The funny thing with B&D is he tells anybody looking for a tractor to go into the dealer and look at buying a brand new JD tractor but he's never bought a new JD himself. He claims he was coerced/forced into buying a relatives JD and then had to spend a ton of money fixing just about everything on it. After reading that, I'm really surprised by why he bleeds so much green. His tractor is much newer than a 8N too.

Talking dollars worth of tractors? Number or tractor units or number of HP sold? Massey and Mahindra are high volume units to this day.
What is a brand anyways? There is only Fiat, CIH and JD left.

To the original question at hand, sorry for the meandering off topic, I run my woodsplitter off a
Prince pto pump. Slips on the pto shaft, works great. 21 gpm, tractor doesn't have to work hard. Before you rty to figure out some internal hydraulic set-up, but the pto pump and be done with it.

We built the splitter in 1980, split wood commercially for 10 years (2+ cord per day) and now I use it for my own wood. Got 30 years out of the first pump.

Kubota is a short line manufacturer? Then you have to consider all the JD's that are just rebadged Yanmars and other makes. Ford was number 2 in units sold back when there were still a lot of different brands to choose from.
