Came home yesterday to find some idiot from Massachusetts had parked his Nissan in the middle of the road, blocking access to my driveway. Couldn't get Clementine out to plow. Called the local cops. An officer came out and shook his head at the sight. Wrote up a parking ticket and was going to call a tow truck, but the tourist would have come back and needed a ride into town. Might have been angry, etc. So since we weren't planning on going anywhere, he put the ticket on the windshield and called the local highway department. Had the driver plow the road and leave a six foot wall of snow directly behind the fellow's Nissan.

About six hours later the fellow finally showed up. Tried to back over the mound, but wet snow is pretty hard to push through. Tried digging himself out with his hands, but that's pretty hard too. He started pounding on my door about the same time the officer came back to check up on us. He started swearing at the officer. Bad move. His shouting and pounding, of course, alerted my dogs. My alpha male, Molson, who was badly beaten before we got him and is now absolutely devoted to us, bared his impressive fangs until the man cooled down.

The officer gave him another citation (Disturbing the peace) and a choice of having Willy (who charges on a sliding scale based on how big a jerk he is dealing with) bring his grader up to remove the snow, or to hire me to move it. $50 richer, I had him pull forward and fired up Clementine. Took all of five minutes to clear the roadway.

Tamara and I love and support our local police /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

You mean to tell me he didn't once say he was sorry about parking in the middle of the road...man ole man I would have fun w/that cat for sure.

Sometimes good old country justice can be more affective than whats on the books. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

God bless the patient. I may have asked him if he changed his name to puppy chow after he started pounding on my door. It amazes me how rude and inconsiderate people can be.

BD, too cool, wish I had been there to see it.... What was the idiot doing for six hours......

Pete - Great story!!!! Sometimes the good days make the bad days worthwhile. I'm not sure the local mountie here would've been quite that shrewd in his handling of the situation, unfortunately. A couple of the State Troopers in the area that I know pretty well would've loved to handle it that way, but the county guys are professional wannabes.

So what was the idiot there for in the first place?

Is there a little Canadian in there Mark?? I thought "Mountie" orginated with reference to the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) and was a Canadian term. Always thought south of the border you referred to them as Troopers.

Well, I'll pass on a History of the RCMP site anyway! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

He wanted to ski on my neighbor's property (the Trapp Family Lodge) without paying the trail fee. Wonderful fellow, huh?

Pete - I'd say that, for a person of his moral fiber and character, he got off really light. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif But, somehow, I doubt he thinks so. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif I'm really glad you got a piece of the action, though. That's pretty rare...

If I'd had a backhoe I'm sure the culvert down the road a bit would've needed some repair work! Course, after my collision with the house I probably shouldn't ask for another implement just yet... /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

My favorite payback is the work of some of the local kids, though. When they find a car parked where it ought not to be, they've been known to jack it up and set concrete blocks under the frame so the tires don't quite reach the ground! /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif You've gotta love that local entertainment! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Pete - Here's an old southern boys' trick you can teach 'em: If you put a piece of watermelon rind under the tires, then cover it with dirt, they won't be able to go anywhere and they won't be too likely to figure out what's wrong very quickly, either. Not only that, they won't find it easy to spot before they get in.

MarkV - Um, well it's a fairly common trick in these parts, so it's entirely possible that I could know about it via strictly non-participatory means... /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

You let this type of stuff go on ? Being that I am from Massachusetts ( head hung in shame ) you let this go , ? No wonder we have a bad name ......... I would there are a few that may be fit for the company of the better states .
I for one if I know that my neighbor was getting some thing stolen from him would at lest take more action than this and line the pockets more to boot ,,,,,

Personally, in the warmer months I find surrounding the car with dog doo (remember I have four goldens) results in their leaving in the proper frame of mind. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I hear they were later seen on a local bobsled run.

Yes, but that was before they found the dog doo under the seats and on the exhaust manifold...
