Rust oleum farm implement paint

I used some brand of lead based Barn Red on a couple of my out buildings in 1982. That was 40 years ago and they still look acceptable. This picture shows full sun exposure and - basically - no sun exposure.

may have lasted but the color match is a bit off.

I used the JD green on my 855. Looked great at first but faded pretty quick. Still looked good when I sold it but there was some flaking at 3 or 4 years. Just in one place but I know I didn't miss that area when I sanded and cleaned.

As far as a rattle can job there isn't any better. I tried the Krylon farm paint and it took 3 cans to cover what 1 can of Rustoleum did.

My old truck ran into some Rustoleum rust neutralizer followed by flat black rattle can and/or cans of rustoleum paint. Had to use the flat black as my preparation and application skills are not up to standards.

Looks okay from a distance.

A before and several after.

Egon - looks totally acceptable.

I saw a weird one a couple years ago. A big Peterbuilt semi. The owner had it in to the LineX dealer. The ENTIRE cab was being sprayed with LineX bed liner. It was a smooth finish - not the textured finish you find in a pickup bed. His answer to the continuous rock chips he was getting on the gravel roads he drove on.

It was one really big black hulking thing ...............

You would find the truck underbody sprayed with a rust restore followed by Tremclad rust paint and finished off by a mixture of roofing asphalt/tar/gunk and diesel fuel applied with an air gun. All the frame parts are included with this spray and many of the body panels. The inside fender well edges were filled with bondo and finished to a smooth rounded surface that does not trap water Or debri.

Just can’t afford the proper materials but those I’ve used seem to work well.
