Thats so true Eddie, Here in my town they purchased a riding mower from Home Depot for the fire dept to cut their small lawn.
People were quite upset, as there isn't much of a lawn, not to mention its a hill. But the Dept justified it as being legitimate, and well within their powers. They also added that Home Depot gave a 25 percent discount. Not Bad. But upon further investigation it was found that the 25 percent wasn't off the price that it was marked for the 'average' shopper. But Off a much higher price that they quote Business. This is common in this area. Many places wont sell to the state, because the state take up to 3 months to pay the bill.
But anyway, mark her up, and then down ...
Even at Wal mart the barn deadbolts I had been buying were on clearance for $6.47.
I prefer to pay the full price from the next nearest Wal mart. $ 4.84.
Marketing is so interesting.
Ever order from HF and get the item, and open the box and on top is an ad for the same item for , 50 percent off? Not a good feeling. Just the way it works out I guess. But still a bit of a kick in the face I think.
I once ordered a compressor, and they same day got a catalog with it for 80 dollars less. i called HF and asked if they could adjust it, they said no, but I could order another one and then return the first when it came in.
Sounded stupid to me, but I did. I got two at the PO and then refused one. So it got shipped back.Seems it would have been easier to do the paperwork' than to ship them all over.
A bit like the ice truck that traveled all over the country with ice during the Katrina disaster.I still wonder if it ever got to the south and used the ice, or just melted ...
