Rusty RTV

The paint on the bed of my RTV is peeling up and falling off....the metal underneath it is starting to get surface rust. I'm starting to want a plastic bed side by side.


I emailed Kubota about it over a month ago and never heard back, guess I'll call them and see if they have any corrosion warranty.

get it rhino-lined and if you're real picky, drop a bed liner in there, too --

-- paint chips, metal rusts, etc. etc.

that, or try POR paint in there --

Dixie, Are you talking about inside the bed, or on the outside of bed? What year is your rtv? Mine is a 2011 has the sprayed in bed liner, and the outside has a plastic plate over the painted bed. Hope the outside is not going to give up on me. So far, the lining is working out well. But I am not hard on it. probably wouldn't be to big of a deal to take it off and have it sprayed, but then again, why should you have to?? Maybe like the auto makers, only good for 3 years, then buy new...

It's the top of the headboard....it's actually got a bit starting underneath the bed at the seams too. I've seen a few 500's on Ebay lately and they were rusty too, I think they did poor finishing on them. Mine is a 09' I believe but I can't remember to be honest, I bought it new in March of 2010 as a left over

After my post, I checked out mine, and the entire bed is undercoated with the spray on liner. The orange plastic sides are applied over the undercoat. At least that is the way it looks to me. Will see how that holds up over the next few years.

Had my 500 for a couple of years and it didn't have one spec of rust anywhere.

It was kept inside always but was used a lot.

My 900 is rusty on floor of the cab where it meets the fenders on both sides. I cleaned it with a wire brush and put some Permatex stop rust on it. Seems to have stopped the rust.

Kubota is slipping. I got a GR2110 with 81 hours and have problems with it. I've never had problems with any of my other Kubota's over the years.
