When doing your pre-start inspections (you do that, right?), check for nests (bird, mouse, dirt dobber, etc) in the radiator fan shroud.

What a hoot! Fork lifts he**, stay away from Klaus, apparently he is putting in to practice the questionable methods so ardently defended in this forum. All he missed was bringing in some kids to give a joy ride.

My German is rusty and I was getting bored by the begining meeting part but things just got better and better and outrageous! "None shall pass! My a**. Move over Black Knight there is a new kid in town.

Klaus hat ein gutes Tag, ja?

Vielen Dank!

What could top that video.

Jay, Unfortunately most of us do, probably shouldn't, but do.

Time constraints, fatigue, distraction, ignorance, overconfidence, and the list goes on of things that help us hurt ourselves.

I'm wearing a Bandaid on my left middle finger right now because in a brief moment when a couple pieces of steel, in league with gravity, were smarter and faster than I was. Split the nail from the quick to the end and likely broke the bone out past the last joint. At least I probably won't have to burn/melt a hole in the nail to release pressure due to split nail. Last time was over 10 years ago but I recall the required medical action so saved a trip to emergency room.

So even when you think you are safe, youi aren't always.

My golly Pat, back sometime in Dec. several rocks did just that to the same finger on the same hand but didn't quite break the nail or any bone. The fingernail fell off several weeks later and is now almost grown out.:D

I know that many of us still have some snow on the ground, but I thought I would point out that one thing I like to do before making my first cut of the year (bush hog or mowing) is to have a modified version of the old "rock party". That is, I like to walk the yard and slowly drive the fields looking for left behind objects (usually by the kids or their friends):

--Footballs
--Basketballs
--Golf clubs
--Tools
--Sleds
--Arrows
--Rocks
--???

During the non-snow months, I make it a habit to pick up the yard every evening (I hate a cluttered yard!). However, during the snow months it's difficult to see everything that has been dragged out. I would hate to hit something while mowing.

When I was first landscaping my mom's yard we received several free loads of shredded trees from the guys hired to clear the right of way near power lines. Seems there were a couple pieces larger than the rest. Yes the brush hog found them and catapulted then into the vinyl siding making small holes that gave me the opportunity to learn vinyl siding patching techniques.

Luckily it wasn't a pair of skates or some such child's abandoned equipment.
