I don't like Walmart, but my wife shops there, and I do too sometimes, mainly because you can do one-stop shopping. Get some candy, loaf of bread, water filters, spark plugs, and shotgun shells, all at Walmart. The one we go to does not check contents going out the door.

Sam's is one of my favorite stores, because they have some stuff you don't see anywhere else. I am a price shopper, and other some food items such as soft drinks, Sam's is almost always cheaper. I always check them first to see if they have an item I need. We save a lot on vitamins and cold medicines, books, household items, tools, batteries and tires. They do check at the door, but I don't mind unless there is a big line there.

Then it came to me why I shop at Wal-Mart. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

They are the closest store of any size to my house. The next closest store is 3 miles farther in the opposite direction. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It is a new store and they do check packages when the store is crowded. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have no opinion on whether this is good or bad. Many of the stores in this area do the same thing.

U.S. Constitution: Fourth Amendment

I NEVER let the “door ****” check my bag of merchandise or mark my receipt – even if the alarm goes off because the employee at the register did not neutralize all of the tags. The key words here are my bag and my merchandise.

When they say something I politely state that I believe that I am protected by the fourth amendment and ask them if they are detaining me for arrest. No one ever has, so I continue on my way. I must say that the off duty uniformed police officers that some of the stores have handle the situation the most cordially. I ask them if they have probable cause for the search.

Why do you volunteer to give up another of your freedoms? I think we have already lost enough!

The fourth ammendment applies to what the government/legal authorities can or cannot do or what they need a warrant for, not what a private company can/cannot do.
