I mow about 3 acres of our 7 acre place since building our home there 2 years ago. Each year I've gotten a couple loads of top soil to fill in spots that were low or small but bumpy ruts due to dozer etc that happened during the building. While it gets better I still have a ways to go along with the dang clumpy dallisgrass that will just about knock you off the mower if going too fast. My last load of topsoil was fairly sandy and have noticed the Bermuda fills in very nicely after using it. To me sand would be much easier to spread and would fall into the low spots easier than the topsoil I've used. Anyone else used sand in this manner in place of top soil. I know its a second topic but that dang dallis grass is maddening and other than to round up everything and start over I don't see a fix.

A friend uses a golf coarse mix for filling in ruts and bumps, Part sand and Topsoil mixed. He keeps his Kubota real busy fixing yards.

Nothing wrong with using sand or sandy topsoil for filling in. That's all I have down here. :D Just be aware that it takes a little more water and fertilizer to grow grass in sand.

Where I am "top soil" is the 1/2" of grey-white sand on top of the tan-orange sand. Sand/sandy-loam is fine.
