Sand Pile

Attached is a picture (new camera!) of my sand pile. When I had my pond dug, we piled the sand up here. I am moving it to the area that will be my finished lawn. Over Thanksgiving, I moved over half of it. What you see in the picture is the balance. I was not use to operating the FEL so long and my right shoulder was really sore from all of the movement and holding it up in the air so long.

I'd love to have that sand. When I had my pond dug I had 6000 yards of clay and shale to distribute. Some of teh shale went down the road, the remainder was spread over 2 acres by a D4 high track and a 3 yard bucket loader.

How the heck does your pond hold water if it's in sand?

Boy, if I had a sand pile like that I'd move it up the hill...then back down the hill again! Moving dirt is good for the soul!

We dug the pond to about 12 feet and hit clay in the bottom. Then the rains came and filled it up. It holds water, but not good. This spring/summer we will dig some more out and line the walls with the clay. The guy that dug it says I will get about that much more /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

The better-half thinks I am working really hard moving all that sand /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif.
