I wonder just how many are living on CC debt ? When it's all said and done, I think we gonna see a lot of bankruptcies !
Not sure about that. CC companies will hound you forever after they destroy your credit.

Buy an electric bicycle. You can use the motor on the uphill parts and still get a workout.
Can't do that in Texas. A motorized bike of any kind is considered a vehicle and requires a license and a plate. Besides, the battery would be dead before I could get to a grocery store. I'm old and couldn't peddle that far. I have a mini bike I could ride on the road easements if I had to. I hope it doesn't come to that.

Like others have said we accumulate Kroger points. But the wife has taken it to an art form. About once a month kroger offers 4x the points on gift cards (except their own). So she buys a couple of gift cards for Amazon, Restaurants, etc that we use all the time, and builds up 1200-2000 pts a month. We also get most (not all) of our Rx's there gaining additional 50-100 pts per Rx, plus whatever groceries she wants to get there.

At 1000 points, you get $1.00 off a gallon. (limit 35 gallons) I have (3) hyde plastic drums that I fill for $1 off, once or twice a month. Haven't paid full price for gas for years now. Have a transfer pump to fill the vehicles whenever we need it.

When gas was really cheap, like $1.75/gal a few years ago, I got it for 75¢. Just like when I was a kid !!

Amy and I both have Kroger Mastercards (separate accounts) so I get vouchers and so does she but she gets mine too. We combine on the gas points (had to get that done with Kroger and we always use the 'Strawberry' card as well. Kroger Mastercard has by far the best ancillary benefits of any credit card and if you have to talk to them, you get a real person that speaks English and not some offshore call center where you cannot understand the 'agent' you are truing to talk to.

Why I dropped both my Capital One card and my Cabelas card (once Capital One too the Foremost Bank Cabelas card over. Don't want to talk to someone I cannot even understand.

Synchrony Bank is the same deal. I do have a HF credit card and I'm a member of their ITC deal but I only use it when there are maximum off sales.

We parlay our grocery buys at Kroger for fuel points. Last month on the last day of the month, we had an 85 cent discount. Limit 45 gallons, diesel or gas but it's still less for me to buy contract off road presently. I'm contracted at 4 bucks a gallon., ORD.

Besides the fuel points, we get grocery vouchers. Not a bad deal.
Wow, you must buy a lot of groceries!
Price Chopper (N.Y./Vt. supermarket chain) also has loyalty cards that pay off in gas discounts. There's much less to this than meets the eye...despite the name, PC's prices are on the high side compared to other chains, and the fuel points are only good at Sunoco stations, which are both few and far between and more expensive than most other brands.
I believe the points expire if not used within a certain amount of time.

I suppose if PC's the only supermarket in town and you have a large family you can save some money, but the whole thing is pretty deceiving.
No Krogers anywhere near me so I don't know how their system works.

That’s the case with many “Rewards” programs. They jack the prices up so that they can offer you discounts. RiteAid was great for that. I haven’t been in their stores in a decade so don’t know how it is since Walgreens bought them out.

Most of us don’t have turnpikes and toll roads, and gas taxes are not in one bucket. They are used for roads. In truth, gas taxes don’t fully fund roads, and general revenues are used to supplement.
The revenues from the gasoline tax (in NM) are distributed as follows:

  • State aviation fund – .26%
  • Motorboat fuel tax fund – .13%
  • Counties and municipalities – 10.38%
  • County government road fund – 5.76%
  • Road funds of municipalities – 5.76%
  • Municipal arterial program – 1.44%
  • General fund $33,333 per month
  • Qualified Tribes 40% of the net receipts attributable to the gasoline tax paid to the Department on 2,500,000 gallons of gasoline each month
  • State road fund – Residual
In PA 40% is going to non-infrastructure agencies (State Police, etc)

At the Giant food store $100 spent = 100 reward points = $0.10 gas discount. We do better at Sam's club where their gas is always $0.20-.40 cheaper than elsewhere depending on grade. Plus the Sam's credit card gives 5% rewards on ALL gas purchase, even other stations. So the $4.81 gas is costing me $4.57

It was $1.60 just a shirt time ago if you remember....lol

Just filled my wife's Suburban up at Kroger with 40 cents off and it was still 125 bucks.... Ouch.
