While I still had my backhoe I used it. Now I pick up several logs on the forks. I have to leave 4 feet of the last log but that still beats cutting it all on the ground. The 4 foot section is easily rolled by hand so it's not much trouble to make 2 cuts in it. Once I get a decent pile of rounds cut I usually drop a load on it to be cut and then get another load on the forks. That reduces the time wasted between sawing and tractor operating. Cutting the logs on the rounds usually isn't bad either because there's no dirt or rocks to worry about hitting. If I've got a log suspected of having metal I'll set it on blocks so I can check it with the metal detector.
