This is the middle three minutes of my 15 minute drive to work 3 days a week. This is around the head of Holmes Harbor in Freeland on Whidbey Island WA.

Thats good timing to get a picture a lightning strike, one that close be good to have rubber boots on then theres the big ground shaking bang. Looks like a lot of flat ground in NM til you get to the mountains.

It probably took about 30 tries... it was quite the storm, a lightning strike about every 10-15 seconds. I was able to get a few other good one captured also.

As a crow flies, we are fairly close... a drive is another thing! Know the area.

So I have a guy come out to work on my oil burner. Tells me he saw a baby black bear on the road. Didn't know we had black bear here. So I go take a look, and find a big black skunk with a faded stripe on his back. Yes the guy was from the city

We are up in the hills here, some people call them mountains, but we are only 3-400 feet up. But feels like the mountains and looks like the mountains.

City folks sometimes get confused. We have a few black bears here in the Southern part of the state; talked to a guy at a car show a couple years back; seems he was camping and a black bear nearly destroyed his camper. He dispatched it with his .357, reported it to authorities, who promptly arrested him. Don't know how it eventually turned out, but seems unfair to me.
