Scraper blade or box blade?

/ Scraper blade or box blade? #51
While I have and use both, when the blade is on and the ground is hard and I don't feel like swapping out attachments, I lower the bucket, let the tooth bar dig in while dragging with the blade.

Dennis, I was not asking how to dig in the dirt, I know how and have the equipment to do it. I was asking sdkubota how he dug up hard ground with a rear blade since he thinks that box blades are worthless or something like that. ;)

Not really, you are never going to "move" much dirt with any rear blade. Same thing goes for a large road grader. They are built for leveling loose dirt. Loaders are made for moving dirt or better yet dump trucks. I don't base this on just my uneducated opinion but 15+ years operating heavy equipment and moving dirt for a living. Yes it can be done (rear blade) but it is extremely inefficient.

Yes, and that is why I had recently dug into hard clay 6' down installed a tube in my pond and cleaned the banks up.
Cuz ya "cant move much dirt w/ any rear blade:laughing:
$1000 for a bb vs. $20,000 bottom dollar for any other heavy equip. Yes!!! very inefficient:stirthepot:

Box scrapper is the way to go; it cuts, moves and fills, and can be used for grooming as well.
