I had some branches scrape across the hood and leave a few scratches. They are not real deep, but they don't wipe out. I was wondering what everyone does to buff out their scratches? (or am I stuck looking at them until they annoy me enough to buy a new hood)
What type of wax works best for hoods on JD?
Thanks!

I can feel the pain.

I just used McGuires 20 on my new 2305 yesterday and it worked like a charm. There were even a few small smudges of some sort that washing didnt take off, but the wax cleaned it right up.

I repainted my 455 with sikkens base / clear coat. Made a world of difference in the appearance. The economy single stage color john deere puts on always looks foggy and scratches before an object touches it. No problem sanding it ...... disappears quickly.

As a former autobodyman I'd buff it with a very fine polishing compound and then keep a couple good coats of quality wax on it to help prevent future light scratches.

If you can swing it consider getting it professionaly clear coated as it's much easier to fix scratches in the clear than scratches that cut through the base coat years down the road. It will also help keep that wet loking shine and keep the base coat from oxidizing and going flat too.

Also if you decide to clear coat it, don't wax it before you take it to the body shop.
