Seat safety Switch? What is the point?

No seat safety, or slow reverse here. Like most they aggravate me and get disconnected in short order.
Seat belts are something I also don稚 use in a car or tuck but will use depending on the job or more the terrain operating on when on the tractor or other equipment.

I disconnect the buzzer in my cars and trucks, our BMW had one for the passenger seat also and it too was annoying, couldn稚 set a small bag of groceries or a pizza on the passenger seat and drive home without hearing that god forsaken buzzer.
Yes a seat belt can save lives but I have been in accidents that it for sure would have ensured my demise! So I feel you and only you should be making the decision not having someone else dictate your choice to you!

Pay attention to what your doing and you will save more lives than any safety device ever could!

All this talk of safety and protective gear just reminded me of something. Here in Pa.they did away with the mandatory helmet law for motorcycles on the road, but still enforce helmets for riding bicycles.

I sure wished my sister was wearing a seat belt. It would have saved 20 years of anguish for my family, and especially my parents; she was decapitated at 19 years old when her car rolled over.

Yep I was one of those naysayers back in the 70's when seatbelts became more prevalent. There was no way I was going to wear on of those constricting things.

One day to quit down my girlfriend who always nagged me I wore it on my way home as a promise to here. You guessed it, rainy night, bald tires, slippery corner and hello telephone pole.

Totaled car but I walked away without a scratch. She never nagged me again, but she always did have a sideways smile on her face every time I buckled up after that.

Why were you driving in the rain with bald tires! Being safe would have meant you didn’t drive an unsafe car in the rain to begin with!

I would say this supports my statement about paying attention being much better than any safety device more so than your seat belt. What if you had left the roadway and ran over some poor unsuspecting pedestrian. Would your seat belt have saved them?

Shtuff just happens sometimes, even when you're careful, but yes very good point...a common cause of a bad day is usually some lack of precaution taken.

I personally know three one armed farmers due to pto accidents caused by no seat switch or bypassed ones. That is the main reason for operator presence switch. Mine are not bypassed on any of my equipment.

I would wonder abut the circumstances of those incidents.
There is a lot of actual farm use which requires not being in the seat while the pto is operating.

Most all the other safety switches being needed and welcomed.
The seat safety switch is the first one I personally hot wire.
I work on my own equipment and find it MUCH more annoying than worthy.
The runner up would be the "Brake pedal to ignition switch". {Polaris Ranger}
That one took awhile for me to find bothersome & tedious.
I care little to none at all what you do with your own persoanl equipment but for
equipment for John Q. Public being dumber than a box of hammers?
Yep, let's make you a list!
