Seldom Used Tractor Precautions

I have a 1993 B7100 with FEL that only has 220 hours on it. I don't plan to sell it, but since I don't use it a lot, I'm looking for some advice on how to avoid problems from letting it sit. I know that sitting can be a lot harder on a machine than constant light use.

I change the coolant every few years and the oil yearly and keep a battery maintainer on it. I also always run it for at least an hour when I do start it to get the oil hot. Any more tips?

I have seen several threads on TBN about putting a wood block under clutch pedal to keep plates from rusting together. You may want to use one on your tractor even if it is stored inside.

Store it in an enclosed barn or garage so that rapid temperature changes do not occur, this helps to prevent the accumulation of water in the hydraulic oil and the engine crankcase.

Also, lift up the tires off the ground will help the tires last allot longer if you do not have any ozone emitting devices inside the barn that would hyperoxidize and degrade your tires.

Some diesel fuel stabilizer added to the fuel should prevent rapid oxidization and degradation of your fuel system, keep an eye on the fuel filter though.

When you do run it for that hour or so, run the PTO for some of the time as well.

I think it's a good idea to switch to the front PTO (or rear one if you regularly use the front) and turn it on every so often to lubricate the seal. Unused shafts had dry out their seals on the top side.
