Got the landscape valve box in place over the concrete D-Box. Will make for easy access to check on the system to make sure it is working properly.

^^^ I should have done the same when I recently had my septic pumped... it is always a pain to find the inlet and outlet inspections covers... the main lid not so much.

Put a foot of soil on top of the tank. I have the 12" riser showing on the 1st chamber (left side) but it might be a little too tall. Should I remove it and install a 6" riser instead of the current 12"? The finished grade is shown in the photo.

It does look like a 6" would do the job. The systems I do since I'm getting paid the final grade I rake out just to the top edge so the customer is happy so it looks good aesthetically.

I agree, I went with the 6" riser.

I took photos of mine with. It helps a lot later, and I can also make marks on the cottage since the tank is only 5 feet from the cottage.

Out here they charge extra $$$ to dig up the access lids. I think it's like $75-$100 if they have to be dug up.
Having them exposed also reminds one of the tank, both for maintenance and so you don't drive over the tank. Most concrete tanks are not designed for vehicular traffic, especially a heavy tractor.
I remember hearing about a homeowner who lived in a home and didn't realize they had a septic system. Supposedly they thought they were on a city sewer or just forgot about the tank. They found out the hard way that they had a septic tank when the tank filled up and started to back into the home.
